United Way of Greater Waterbury Live United

Day of Action 2017

Wednesday, June 21, 2017

Thank you for your participation in United Way of Greater Waterbury's largest Day of Action ever in celebration of our 75th anniversary. This year's effort engaged several hundred volunteers across our 10-town service area to help fight hunger, promote literacy and support local non-profit agencies. United Way's Annual Day of Action showcases the power of volunteerism and the results that can be achieved when we choose to LIVE UNITED.
  • Over 100 companies and local organizations signed up to participate in the 12th Annual Stock the Pantry food drive, raising a record 89,000 pounds of food.
  • Over 100 volunteers helped unload, weigh and collect food donations at the Day of Action hub site at Naugatuck Valley Community College.
  • Nearly 130 volunteers signed up to read to pre-school age children at 14 Waterbury school readiness sites and libraries in United Way's 10-town service area.
  • Over 70 corporate volunteers rolled up their sleeves at 9 Day of Caring sites at partner agencies to help with landscaping, painting, filing and more.

The results of the 2017 United Way Day of Action are nothing short of historic, once again demonstrating the true character and generosity of those who live, work and do business in the United Way of Greater Waterbury's 10-town service area. Whether you helped collect food, worked at the Day of Action hub site, read to pre-school age children or rolled up your sleeves at a partner agency, you truly helped make a difference in our community!

On behalf of the United Way of Greater Waterbury and all those who will benefit from your participation far into the future, we thank you for making this one of the most successful Day of Action's ever.
